Zac walked away and my heart sunk. He was leaving me. He never left me before. I didn't want him to leave! Even as I watched him, my eyes began to tear up. He never did anything that I didn't want him to do before! His hair looked so, so, so in place and his gray tee-shirt made his shoulders look extra all-embracing and muscular.
I walked to the house full of excitement. My lips just pressed against Zac's and then we french kissed! Zac and me. We kissed. Kissed!! It seemed too weird to think about.
As soon as I walked into the house is when my mother attacked me with questions. She knew from previous conversations that I really liked Zac and she knew that something was going to happen between us eventually.
"Angela, what happened out there?" she asked.
"Please mom, you know what happened. You were probably watching outside the curtains or something. I know that you saw everything, so why even ask questions?" I asked her. Over the past couple months, we have grown close, but our relationship wasn't like the average mother/daughter relationship, it was more like a friend and friend relationship. It was easier to talk to her about things than I thought it was going to be.
"You're right, I was spying." She said. "But, what about Bobby? What now?"
"I don't know! Nothing is going to happen. I'm not going to tell him." I said. My mother gave me a very skeptical look.
"Are you sure? If you're honest, he might not care. But if you don't tell him and he finds out, then you're gonna be sunk." She said. Ugh, that wasn't what I wanted to hear. I really liked Bobby. I didn't want him to break up with me!
"Yeah mom, I'm sure." I said eventually.
"Then, take my word for it, don't tell anyone else, either. You never know who you can and can't trust in the world of love. Keep it a secret with yourself and Zac." She advised. I nodded, knowing that I would have to tell Micculla. She was my 2nd best friend! How could I not tell her? I fell to my bed and called her.
"Mic! You will never guess what just happened!" I exclaimed at the sound of her voice.
"You're right, I won't. But I am assuming that it has to deal with Bobby and what he gave you for your birthday, right? Oh, happy birthday, by the way." She said.
"Thank you, and you're wrong. It has nothing to do with Bobby." I said.
"Zac." I said. I heard Micculla perk up with excitement.
"Zac?! What about Zac?!" she asked.
I contemplated on telling her. She could slip and end up telling Bobby and then he would break up with me probably. But I didn't want him to break up with me. I really liked him.
"Ang? You there?" Mic asked, interrupting my thoughts. I hadn't realized that I waited that long before saying anything.
"Yeah, I'm here. Zac just left. You'll never believe what he gave me." I said, still thinking about if I should tell her or not.
Well, what?! Ang, you're killin' me here!"
"He got me some really cool light up drumsticks. I love them." I said.
"Oh. I guess that you have to be a drummer to get so excited, huh?" she joked. "What else did he give you?"
I hesitated before answering. "Nothing."
"You pathetic liar! I know he gave you something else!" Micculla said, hinting that she knew something was up.
"Weeelllll," I started.
"Angela!! Tell me already!" Micculla demanded.
"Fine! We kissed." I blurted out.
"You and Zac? You two kissed?" she asked, a little stunned. "Are you serious?"
"Yeah, we kissed. And it wasn't just one little peck on the cheek, either." I revealed. That's when reality kicked in. Woah, we kissed.
"It wasn't? Ang! What are you gonna do?" she asked. Then I heard that annoying beeping in my ear. Call waiting.
"I dunno." I said, trying to ignore the beeps. "Hold on. I have a beep." I clicked over to the other line. "Hello?"
"Is he gone yet?" Bobby asked, referring to Zac.
"Bobby, hi. Yeah, he's gone, but I wish you wouldn't refer to him as a dog or something. He's my best friend." I said.
"I know, but, I dunno. Just call it a hunch or something. I have this feeling that he wants you, like, really bad." Bobby said. I laughed nervously.
"Don't be ridiculous. Me and Zac?"
"Yeah, I guess you're right. Can I come over? I still have to give you your present."
"Sure…I'll be waiting." I said, then clicked back over to Micculla. "That was Bobby."
"Are you gonna tell him?" she asked.
"I can't!" I said. "He's on his way over, so I have to get going. I'll call you later."
"Yeah, you better!" she said, knowing that I would call her as soon as Bobby left.
Within five minutes, Bobby was over, and we were in the garage. Before he gave me the small box he was carrying, he kissed me and it felt great. Sure, I know that I had just kissed Zac, and I loved every minute of it, but Bobby was my boyfriend, and it was supposed to feel great when he kissed me.
"Happy birthday." He said, then handing me the neatly wrapped box. I took the box and slowly untied the ribbon. I slid the lid off and peered inside. It was a bracelet. A silver ID bracelet, that had my name engraved in it. I picked it up, and under it was another bracelet, only this one had Bobby's name on it. I looked up into his eyes and smiled.
"Oh, thank you so much. I love it." I said, as he clasped his name around my wrist and my name around his wrist. We leaned forward for a kiss.
As it was about to reach full intensity, and even tho my eyes were closed visions of Zac flashed before my eyes. When I first started to think he was cute, when he was head banging, how he looked just before we kissed. It was wrong. We had kissed, and it was wrong of me to let happen. I pulled away.
"Ang? What's wrong?" Bobby asked.
"Nothing, it's just that, well, thank you, for the bracelets, I mean. They're really nice." I said. He smiled, and pulled me over to the small uncomfortable couch. We leaned back on it, me sorta lying on top of him, his hands resting in the back pockets of my jeans. Our lips touched again and with each passing second, I found myself becoming more and more in tune as to what he was wanting to do. I realized that I led him to believe that I wanted it, pulling away in the middle of a kiss. It was something my mother had warned me never to do.
But everything that was happening felt so rousing that I didn't know what to do but only respond to all of Bobby's kisses. We continued our furious kisses. Bobby had his fingers caressing thru my hair, and then his hands traced the profile of my face and neck.
"Angela, I love you." He whispered. The words startled me, and I quickly tensed up, being uncomfortable. He looked into my eyes, and I knew that he meant it.
Before I could reply to anything, I heard Zac's voice in my head. "I love you, too." He said. It sounded so much different when I heard it in Zac's voice. I shook my head to clear it from Zac's control.
"I love you, too." I told Bobby. His eyes filled with emotion and seemed to brighten immediately.
"Really?" he asked, not believing me. I nodded.
"I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it." I said. He kissed me again.
"Nothing happened with Bobby." I told Micculla, on the phone the next day.
"Yeah right. You two probably had wild sex all night long. I happen to know what he didn't leave your house until extremely late last night." Mic said.
"Mic! Nothing happened. Sure, we kissed and stuff, but geeze, give it a rest. We didn't do it!" I said. "But, he did tell me he loved me."
"Aww, that's sweet." She said. "Aww, that's really sweet."
"Well, so did Zac."
"It's really hard to explain. Zac and me have telepathy, and right after Bobby told me he loved me, I heard Zac say it, too. Mic, this is weird. I love Zac, he's my best friend, but, I love Bobby as my boyfriend." I said.
"I think I understand what you mean." She said. "You want Zac."
"No! That's not it!" I shrieked.
"Oh, you know it's true. You wouldn't have kissed him if you didn't want him. Stop puttin' on a show." She said. And she was right, too. I wanted Zac; I wanted him like I wanted Bobby. I was being selfish. I wanted both of them.
"You exaggerate too much." I said, instead. Zac was always there for me. Especially when we were kids. He always understood me. I never thought that the day would come when I would think of Zac the same way that I had thought about Bobby. But it came and it was here, and I was really confused about it. I wanted to like him, but I didn't want to at the same time. There were too many different things in the way right now. Bobby, Zac's job, and, well, that was about it.
"Call him." Mic said, and hung up. I sat there for a few seconds before I realized what she meant. I dialed Zac's phone number. It rang about 5 times before it was even answered. And Zac picked it up.
"Yello?" he asked, in a weird voice. I giggled. "Hey Ang, what's up?"
"Actually, I need to talk to you." I said. "Like, right now. Can I come over?"
"Yeah, come on over. But, what do you need to talk about?"
"I don't wanna talk about it on the phone. I'll be over in five." I said, hanging up, no doubt, leaving Zac in total confusion.
I walked over to Zac's house in record time. I rang the doorbell, something that I don't normally do. I usually just walked right in, but I felt different now. Zac opened the door.
"You rang the bell. Something is bothering you. What is it?" he asked, immediately noticing that there was something wrong.
"Have you ever seen me cry before?" I asked him. He looked confused, then he shook his head.
"Why?" he asked. I grabbed his hand and pulled him to his backyard, somewhere where we could have a little bit of privacy. We went behind the big maple tree. The trunk was about the size of Rhode Island. We both sat down, and leaned up against it.
"Zac, strange things have been happening to me lately. Well, not exactly strange, but different. I mean -- "
"I already know what you mean." He said. I looked up.
"Yeah, ever since I kissed you, I haven't been able to think of anything else." He said. "And I have a feeling that you haven't, either."
"It's not just a feeling, Zac, you know it's the truth."
He nodded, then looked over at me.
"And I know this is wrong, with Bobby and everything, but I want you to kiss me again." I said. "I want you to kiss me again."
We were both sitting cross legged, facing each other. Zac reached his hand over, and placed it along my jaw line. His hand felt like electric against my skin. His legs unfolded, and he leaned over, now sorta standing on his knees, but he still had his hand on my face. His thumb stroked over my cheek. His face moved closer and closer to mine. I closed my eyes slowly, and then his lips ever so gently touched mine.
My stomach did a flip-flop. Zac inhaled deeply and pulled me over closer to him. Our lips still touched and soon I felt the touch of his tongue delicately sweep across my lips. I wrapped my arms around his neck, his godly neck, and scooted over even farther, literally sitting on his lap. My hands went around his jaw line as I tilted his head up to keep his lips in contact with mine because I was now kneeling and he was sitting Indian-style again. His hands went down and cautiously caressed over my butt. We kissed each other with such appetite that it nearly left us breathless.
"Angela," he said as our lips parted. It was more like he was asking permission to say something. "You heard me last night, didn't you?"
I pretended to play dumb. "Huh?"
"I, well, you must know how I feel about you by now."
"I'm not sure I understand." I lied. I knew exactly what he was talking about.
"You know I love you." He said, and then, for the first time, I saw him blush. It wasn't anything major, but it was just a little flash of red in his cheeks. I smiled.
"You know I love you, too." I replied, placing my hands on his collarbone, right by his shoulders. He returned my smile, and then kissed me again. We fell back, him leaning over me, his hair falling from the band what was holding it back. I reached up and tucked the strand behind his ear.
"You have no idea how much I wished this would happen." He said, leaning down, kissing my lips again. We were quite a distance away from the house, but we were spotted. I heard the sound of a twig snapping under the weight of someone.
"Well well well, what do we have here? I guess that it was only a matter of time before this would happen." Isaac said from above us, looking down, smiling. Zac rolled over, to lay beside me on the grass, and we both looked up at Isaac. "What do you have to say for yourselves? Making out like a couple of Woodstock maniacs and don't expect to get caught? You really need to learn the rules." He joked.
"Oh, don't worry. I'm not gonna rat on you two. Just expect mom to jump down you're throat when she leaves. She was the one that saw you guys. I'm surprised that she didn't come out here herself. You're lucky." Isaac said, turning to leave, but he winked slyly at Zac before turning his back completely to us.
